Ifelodun/Irepodun LG Boss Solicits Better Welfare for Fallen Heroes


 


The Ifelodun/Irepodun local government area Chairman of Ekiti state ,Hon. Babalola Ogundana has called for better welfare packages for ex-servicemen and families of fallen heroes.

He spoke while laying the wreaths to comemmorate the 2023 edition of the Armed Forces Remembrance Day, held at Igede-Ekiti, headquarters of Ifelodun/Irepodun local government area of Ekiti state.

The local government boss stated that laying of wreath is an opportunity to recap commitment to men and women of the armed forces, living and dead.”

He noted that laying of wreath should not be seen as a mere jamboree. saying this is not a fun-seeking exercise, that the gathering is a solemn tribute to the dead as well as the living serving officers.

Ogundana informed that “ I noted during the emblem fund-raising launching, the nation owes a debt of gratitude to our service men and women for their past and present service to the nation which is very significant.



Adding that governments at all levels must ensure that gratitude translate to improved service conditions for service personnel and unconditional care for the veterans and their families.

The local government boss noted that the need to re-evaluate  financing options, focusing not just on military hardware, but innovate to care sufficiently for the welfare of service personnel and veterans can not be over emphasised.

Adding that neglecting welfare of service of the personnel is a disservice to effective national defense. And that the country must pay homage to the veterans.

Saying, " As We are celebrating men and women who pay the supreme price for the continous existence of our nation as an indivisible entity.We salute our heroes, the gallant servicemen whose blood were spilled for national defense.



While  assuring veterans in the local government area that  government is already looking into their long list of demands with hope of attending to such needs and their welfare.

He added that the support and cooperation of the veterans service men at ensuring security of lives and properties in the local government area, with their wealth of experience will be highly appreciated.
