ONDO TOXIC WASTE INCIDENTS ... Company calls for proper investigation
Just as three persons were reported dead over toxic waste deposit in Omotosho forest reserve in Ondo state, the Management of lynyi Industrial Hub, has called for proper investigation into the cause of the death of the three persons concerned.
Chairman of the industrial hub, Chief Alex Ajipe on Monday in Akure, the state capital that it's imperative for the Police and other security agencies to do a thorough investigation in the death of the three persons.
He noted that Police and relevant security agencies should be allowed to carry out appropriate investigation including autopsy tests of the persons reportedly said to have died as a result of toxic wastes in the forest.
It would be recalled that the victims reported having died of toxic waste include Mr. Akinmusire Monday(35), Mr. Samuel Louis (45), and Master Ododolewa Adebowale(19), all residents in Akinfosile in Okitipupa Local Government Area of the state.
Chief Ajipe explained that "whilst we appreciate the Nigerian police for their prompt action, we urge them to do a thorough investigation of the incident and come out with the facts."
Speaking on the operations of the current seven different companies within the industrial hub, the chairman of the hub revealed that all national and state agencies that monitor and control environmental issues have an office within the premises of the hub.
Ajipe noted that all industries within the hub were complying with all the rules and regulations on the environment as provided for by the nation's constitution.
According to him, "All agencies in charge of environmental control in Nigeria have their presence in the hub and all companies within the hub have no choice than to comply with all the rules and regulations as laid down by the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
"I am stating here categorically that none of the companies here can dare to do what runs contrary to the dictates of our laws in this country.
Their operation is in tandem with international standards.
"We(management) personally invited all industrial unions to organize their various members in companies within the industrial hub." He noted
